Marcus Shields MA (Hons) Landscape Architecture. PG Dip Urban Design. CMLI.

 Marcus Shields is a landscape architect and urban designer, based in Camden, London. With his expertise he is particularly expert on developing design proposals through all workstages, including feasibility studies community participation, detailed design, implementation and delivery on site. 

Marcus has over 20 years professional experience. He graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2000, with a MA Hons Landscape Architecture including an exchange studying at Rhode Island School of Design, USA. Continuing his professional development, in 2015 he completed a postgraduate Diploma in urban designat the University of Westminster, where he achieved a distinction in the subject. 

Marcus is a professional Chartership examiner for the Landscape Institute and is a member of the LI Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Committee. In addition he has delivered a number of lectures on behalf of the Urban Design Group, TFL and Urban Design London.

His work has covered a range of scales and disciplines, completing projects throughout the U.K., Europe, Syria and the Middle East. He has acted as project lead / designer for a number of large-scale London Parks, Historic Landscape, Gardens and strategic planning proposals including the Riverine Mosque Project in Newham, Designing and implementing Open space strategies, Town Centre & Public Realm improvements, Conservation streetscape, Community lead projects and contemporary park regeneration projects. He has facilitated a number of community workshops and community consultation events for the regeneration of London communities, through design and construction administration.

Prior to setting up his consultancy, Marcus held a number of senior roles for a number of Landscape Architecture & environmental consultants, including as an Associate with Colvin & Moggridge in Croydon, Levitt Bernstein, London, Martha Schwartz and Partners, London, Land Use Consultants (LUC), Glasgow, The Paul Hogarth Company, Belfast and Ian White Associates, Stirling.

In his spare time Marcus is a keen runner, cyclist and triathlete, racing mountain bikes for team Scotland as a junior and representing GBR in the 2011 Cross Triathlon World Championship. He regularly competes in road cycling, trail running, Cyclocross and MTB races throughout the U.K., including the 3 Peaks cyclocross in Yorkshire: Britain’s toughest cyclocross race.
